Dear members of the University United Methodist Church,
We are reaching out to you with an immediate and urgent request. As you may be aware, the end of Title 42 has led to an influx of migrants crossing our borders. Our brothers and sisters are seeking shelter, basic necessities, and a welcoming community during this challenging transition period.
Echo Park UMC, in collaboration with other UMCs in the East District, is standing tall in this time of need. However, to be successful in our mission, we need your support.
We are reaching out to our entire UMC community for your generous donations. If you have any of the following items that you can spare, it would go a long way in helping those in need:
Food and water
Beds, air mattresses, and mats
Bedding and heaters
Towels
Clothing, specifically underwear, socks, jackets, t-shirts, and jeans
Sanitary products and toiletry kits
Cooking equipment, disposable tableware, and trash bags
No donation is too small, and every bit of help counts. We humbly request that you consider offering what you can to support this crucial cause.
Additionally, we are in need of dedicated volunteers willing to help staff the shelter. Your time and effort can make a significant difference in the lives of those we are striving to help. If you are able to commit to any amount of time for this cause, please consider volunteering.
To provide assistance, we will be accepting donations until Sunday, June 4th, 2023. Donations can be dropped off at the Church Office during Office Hours. To donate or volunteer, please reach out to our office.
In the words of Hebrews 13:2, "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it." In this challenging time, let us extend our hands to our fellow humans in need. Let us uphold the principles of our faith and provide the care, kindness, and support they need.

Nos estamos comunicando con toda nuestra comunidad de UMC por sus generosas donaciones. Ninguna donación es demasiado pequeña, y cada pequeña ayuda cuenta. Le solicitamos humildemente que considere ofrecer lo que pueda para apoyar esta causa crucial.
Además, necesitamos voluntarios dedicados dispuestos a ayudar al personal del refugio. Su tiempo y esfuerzo pueden marcar una diferencia significativa en la vida de aquellos a quienes nos esforzamos por ayudar. Si puede comprometerse a cualquier cantidad de tiempo para esta causa, considere ofrecerse como voluntario.
